The League is a funny, entertaining show that you will love if you have ever played fantasy football in your life. I can’t help but think this is what a bunch of my friends and I will be like in our later years (we’ve been playing fantasy football since 2003). Unfortunately I will probably STILL be the unfortunate loser every year, but that’s not what’s important. What’s important is this show is a lot like The Office, Arrested Development, and Party Down. It has witty improved comedy, strung along by a general plot line on each episode. The cast doesn’t have anyone you’ve ever really heard of with guys like Mark Duplass and Nick Kroll, but you can’t help but wonder “where you’ve seen that guy before.” The show is only 25 minutes long per episode, so it’s a real easy watch. One of my favorite aspects is the opening credit-intro-thing is only about three seconds long. I love it when shows have really quick openings.
If you’re a guy, like raunchy comedy, and have ever played fantasy football, this is a show you will enjoy. If you’re a guy, like raunchy comedy, and are a sports fan, you will probably like this show. If you’re a woman, like raunchy comedy, and have played fantasy football or are a sports fan, you will like this show. What’s even better… the first season is available on Netflix Instant-Watch.
Give it a shot. What can it hurt? I liked it, and now I’m gonna try and get my hands on season 2. Once again, I have found something to watch in that half-hour span when Jim Rome takes over ESPN. I really don’t like that guy…
